Today is a little different.

In addition to sharing the Daily Bible Verse from the Youversion Bible App, I want to explain my intent in doing so.

We are in Week 3 of The Christian Atheist series at church and yesterday, Pastor Craig Groeschel listed seven qualities of a lukewarm Christian. One part of this sermon screamed out loud to me! He said, “It is so easy to be a Christian where I live, that it’s almost difficult to be a true one.” #BibleBelt

He said that at one point in his ministry, he was, “reading the Bible to preach, not for personal devotion.”

THIS IS EVERYTHING. I felt the Holy Spirit tap on the door to my heart and say, “Hey. This. Make sure you’re sharing for the right reason.” Wow. One of the very characteristics of a lukewarm Christian is “craving the attention of people.” As hard as that is to type even, as I do not want that thought about me, ever, I feel it is necessary to mention. Accountability.

“This country has gone to hell,” they said.

Whoa, man. The internet exploded today over the Supreme Court’s ruling on same-sex marriage. The bigots and the Christians and the homosexuals went to war!

You can read all about that here.

I decided not to blog about this, but instead simply posted my two cents in ten words on Facebook, and the debate ensued. It wasn’t until my dear husband owned someone’s rant on Leviticus 20:13 that I was persuaded and decided to blog this so that it may be shared. I will post it here for those who do not wish to read the entire thread, which I linked above, but it definitely is a good read in it’s entirety.

Leviticus 20:13 says:

If a man lies with a male as he lies with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination. They shall surely be put to death. Their blood shall be upon them.

The burning response is as follows:

A Call to Persevere in Faith

Verse of the Day

Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful..

Hebrews 10:23

It’s In Your Hands

You may or may not know that as I sit at my desk job everyday, I sometimes listen to sermons. I sometimes scroll through my newsfeed on Facebook, as well. Today, while on Facebook, a person that I would consider a dear friend, but in all actuality only touched my life for a brief moment, yet remains dear to my heart, shared a sermon by Pastor Steven Furtick of Elevation Church titled It’s In Your Hands. I was so excited when I saw Gina’s post because my husband and I adore this pastor! It is his sermons that I watch/listen to the most while I work! I immediately commented on her post and then proceeded to listen to the sermon. I had no idea from the title that it was in reference to the recent Charleston, South Carolina church shooting until it started. Underneath the video on the page, it states:

Every prejudice is handed down from somewhere. Let’s consider what we are handing down – whether we realize it or not – that shapes our lives, our families, and our communities.

Submit Yourselves to God

Verse of the Day

Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.

James 4:7

Come near to God and he will come near to you.

Do You Need A Sandwich In There?

I have been known to write a note to my long-lost husband and slide it under the bathroom door.

I almost drove to Walgreens last night and bought him a Hallmark.

Look guys, we get it.

We understand the need to escape. We also need some “me” time. We like browsing social media and checking emails and texting too.

Unfortunately, it just doesn’t work like that for us… THEY WILL FIND US.

dec 2010 _1 001

I can’t be the only woman in America that loses her husband to the Porcelain God for hours at a time, daily. Don’t you have hemorrhoids? Are you ill? What could possibly be so comforting that you guys can happily, happily sit on the toilet for what seems like an eternity while life passes you by on the other side of that door?

We miss you.

We want you to come back.

Alone and Scared

Verse of the Day

Humility is the fear of the Lord; Its wages are riches and honor and life.

Proverbs 22:4

A good name is more desirable than great riches.
